Who are we? What is Miamimix?

What is Miamimix?

Miamimix is an online social guide used by many for one common purpose - TO BECOME MORE SOCIAL!

What does 'Miamimix' stand for?

The "Mi" is a shortened version of the word 'to Mingle' - we are big believers in getting more people socialising. We offer many different opportunities for people to socialise including at dance classes, dance events, language exchange events, fitness & health sessions, clubs for people to join, dating events plus sport events.

The "Ami" is a shortened version of the word "Amigos" which is spanish for 'to make friends'. We are also big believers of building real and long lasting friendships.

The "Mix" represents exactly how diverse we are and how much we support different and various projects and give a platform for so many different types of activities for all types of mix of people.

When did it all start?

Miamimix started in early 2010 in Plymouth. Slowly the name is getting recognised in different parts of the United Kingdom. By 2016 we shall see ourselves be an online platform in over 4 cities working together with over 100+ organisations in the United Kingdom including Bristol, Bournemouth, Exeter, Plymouth & Brighton.

Since 2010, Miamimix have actively been supporting local as well as national charities. Below include some of the donations that Miamimix have made:

  • In 2010, we managed to raise over £45 for Oxfam for the Oxjam festival at a Salsa City event.
  • In January - May 2011,  we managed to raise over £300 for St Luke's Hospice Charity Plymouth through optional donations by tins at the bars & entrance of all our events during this period.
  • On Saturday 8th June 2013, we managed to raise over £249.43 for Cancer Research Plymouth at the LIVE SHOWDOWN World Music Show & Music Competition that took place at Roland Levinsky, Plymouth. These were made from ticket sales as well as from optional donations at the event.
  • In May 2015, Miamimix raised over £2100 + for Nepal's earthquake victims. £100 online via the JustGiving page + £1750 at the nepalese live music, dance & dinner evening + £250 from the Danceathon event

Working alongside the local charities is also very important to us as we try to do our little bit to give back to the community. If you have a charity that you would like Miamimix to contribute to, then please get in touch TODAY and we will be more than happy to arrange an event in aid for your charity.
